There will be an additional 140–180 Tennessee National Guard men sent to Memphis.
According to a source close to the matter, the deployment is set to begin on Thursday, November 13.
As an element of President Donald Trump’s Memphis Safe Task Force, the guard has been in Memphis for several weeks. Although exact numbers are unknown, there have been between 90 and 150 guards in the city.
Commercial areas, like Downtown Memphis, have been seen to be patrolled by guards. Like all Task Force members, they have been deputized as U.S. Marshals, but they haven’t been making arrests.
🚨 “It’s been pretty dangerous. I couldn’t really go outside or play,” Braylon Brye told me about life in Memphis before the National Guard came.
“It’s been pretty peaceful now,” he said.
Now Braylon can practice his trumpet outside!
