As the National Guard patrols Memphis with hundreds of state and federal police enforcement, a group of veterans are speaking out.
The veterans have established an encampment directly outside the Sheraton Hotel downtown, expressing their displeasure with the Guard’s presence in Memphis. They maintained their position and are adamant that they won’t be leaving.
Sunday, there were about 20 people at a tent covered with military flags from the Marines to the Navy.
The group stated that they are even willing to sleep outside and that there would always be someone at the campground as long as the National Guard is in Memphis.
