After a substation fire caused extensive damage, MLGW reported that over 99% of customers now have power again.
Following a fire at a substation breaker close to Rhodes College, more than 11,000 MLGW customers including the Memphis Zoo briefly lost power Tuesday afternoon.
MLGW claims that the breaker is roughly the size of a car. The cause of the extinguished fire is still being investigated.
At 4 p.m., the Memphis Zoo also lost electricity and had to close early. Tuesday.
Over 99% of customers have power. The substation outage happened just before 2p.m. The peak was at 2:30p.m.with 11,518 customers out. Our team was able to restore the substation bank and successfully switch circuits to restore power by 6:05p.m. pic.twitter.com/rTSrs8VE49
