There will be changes to the Memphis Area Transit Authority, which will now be run by a trust consisting of two individuals rather than a CEO.
In a Tuesday executive session with city council members, officials approved significant restructuring adjustments regarding the responsibility for overseeing MATA’s spending.
In recent weeks, the transit authority has dominated the news. Since WREG Investigators exposed a $60 million budget shortfall and shady expenditures, MATA has been under fire.
The council earlier this year approved over $30 million in funds, which will be managed by the trust.
