On Monday, three other Republican governors in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee approved the National Guard’s troop deployment to Washington DC.
The move is a component of President Donald Trump’s increasing use of force, which he claims is intended to strengthen immigration enforcement and combat crime in the nation’s capital.
The announcements increased the total number of states to six and the number of state troops assigned to the president’s campaign to over 1,100.
