On Monday morning, Hernandez Govan, the man suspected of being responsible for the killing of rapper Young Dolph, went on trial.
Govan faces a three-count indictment for murder, murder conspiracy, and attempted murder. Last month, he turned down a plea bargain.
On November 17, 2021, Young Dolph was shot and killed at Makeda’s Cookies in South Memphis. Memphis Police posted a photo of two of the attackers within hours.
The suspects were then identified by investigators as Justin Johnson, another rapper, and Cornelius Smith.
Almost a year later, Govan was charged as well. He was freed on a $90,000 bail just months after his indictment.
