A family of three was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on I-40 and Hollywood in May, and a man from McEwen, Tennessee, has been charged with three counts of vehicular homicide.
25-year-old Robert Carmack was additionally charged with four counts of aggravated assault, five counts of reckless endangerment, aggravated assault, reckless driving, and failing to exercise due care after he was arrested on Tuesday at the Shelby County Jail.
Investigators reported that Carmack recklessly and quickly approached decelerated traffic, went past a TDOT flashing notice about an impending construction zone, and collided with the rear of a Honda CR-V.
Two passengers and the Honda’s driver were declared deceased at the scene.
