LOCAL | Injunction Sought By Former MSCS Superintendent Feagins To Get Her Job Back

A preliminary injunction is being sought by the former superintendent of Memphis-Shelby County Schools in order to overturn the school board’s decision to remove her and restore her position.

The request was submitted to Shelby County Circuit Court on Monday by Dr. Marie Feagins’s attorneys.

On January 21, Dr. Feagins was fired. She sued the school board in civil court in February for terminating her employment.

In the case, Dr. Feagins accused the board of violating citizens’ rights and holding private conversations to plan her ouster.

MSCS responded to the latest court action, saying: “We want to be clear: this lawsuit is baseless and the motion lacks merit. The District is focused on our commitment to serving children, student achievement, and preparing for a successful new school year.”
