A multi-million dollar deal to continue doing business with a company that they are suing in court was authorized by Memphis-Shelby County School board members.
The school board announced it was filing a lawsuit against PowerSchool earlier this month after thousands of students’ personal information was leaked.
They extended its one-year agreement with PowerSchool, a contract worth almost $2.4 million.
The K-12 software company reported hackers back in December 2024, which led to the lawsuit, which includes claims of negligence, breach of contract, and false advertising.
It is believed that teachers’ and students’ private information was stolen by the hackers.
Applications for the Summer Learning Academy, new student registration, returning student updates, attendance, report cards, and student grades are just a few of the things that MSCS uses PowerSchool for.
