Days after a mother of three was shot dead, a man was charged with murder.
In relation to Jyrah Smith’s death, Memphis Police have reported that 27-year-old Deangelo Mitchell has been charged with second-degree murder.
On the morning of May 23, police were called to the shooting at an apartment building on East Georgia Avenue.
The victim, named by her family as 23-year-old Jyrah Smith, was discovered at the scene and declared dead.
Smith was shot in the head in front of her boyfriend Deangelo Mitchell’s residence.
Police say the gunfire came after a fight on the second story of one of the buildings, and Smith’s family believes this was a domestic dispute.
