The man accused of going on a shooting rampage throughout Memphis in 2022 has had his trial date postponed. The trial of 22-year-old Ezekiel Kelly was scheduled for July 15.
A new trial date will be scheduled, and Kelly will now appear in court on that day instead.
On Friday, May 23, Shelby County Criminal Court Judge James Jones Jr. approved the trial delay in response to a motion filed by Michael Scholl, Kelly’s lawyer.
Kelly is charged with killing three people and wounding three more during a shooting spree in September 2022.
Memphis was placed on lockdown during the hunt for his arrest until he was apprehended by authorities near Whitehaven. Kelly has entered a not-guilty plea and faces the death penalty.
