The new City of Bartlett Emergency Communications Center on Appling Road was officially opened on Monday with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The celebration was attended by a number of elected leaders and city employees, including previous Mayor A. Keith McDonald and current Mayor David Parsons.
The Shelby County 911 fund, which was funded by county taxes, paid for the $12 million facility.
The new 8,800-square-foot facility has 10 dispatch stations and a training area for 50 people with an impressive eight-screen display.
A new computer system and software, as well as several video monitors at every dispatch station, are examples of other technological improvements at the facility.
