A drunk driver led a state trooper on a high-speed pursuit along a Memphis interstate on Sunday morning.
According to the state trooper, it began shortly before 3 a.m. The trooper attempted, but was unable, to stop the driver of a Hyundai Genesis Coupe that was traveling at 75 mph in a 45 mph zone.
The driver, Randy Rodriguez, allegedly drove into oncoming traffic as he rushed away from the trooper. The officer let Rodriguez collide with their THP vehicle by putting their patrol car in his path.

Rodriguez made a U-turn after the collision and drove off again. In the ensuing chase, he drove at nearly 100 mph along I-40. The vehicle sped past stoplights on Summer Avenue when he got off on the Sam Cooper exit.
His Hyundai eventually broke down and upon approach, the officer saw an open Corona beer bottle in the car. Rodriguez admitted to being extremely intoxicated and was placed under arrest. He is facing multiple charges.
Rodriguez is currently held in jail on a $90,000 bond. He appeared in court on Monday morning.
