The man who was part of a shooting spree in Memphis last week that left two people hospitalized was identified by the Department of Homeland Security as an undocumented immigrant.
24-year-old Enoc Martinez is from Honduras, according to the Department of Homeland Security. DHS said following the shooting spree, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) filed an immigration detainer against him.
Five counts of attempted first-degree murder, five counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a serious felony, escaping police on foot, purposefully avoiding arrest in a vehicle, and domestic assault were among the charges set.
In June 2014, he entered the country illegally as an unaccompanied minor, according to DHS. Border Patrol caught him, turned him over to the Office of Refugee Resettlement, and put him with a sponsor in Memphis.
In 2022, he received a final order of removal.
