One week remains until the REAL ID deadline.
Starting on May 7, unless you have a passport, the REAL ID will be required in order to board a plane.
Applying for it is available at any time. For those who must fly or enter any government building, the deadline is May 7.
In the event that the deadline is missed, passports remain valid. A star will appear on the new ID.
To obtain a REAL ID, you’ll need to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal presence, proof of your Social Security number, and two proofs of Tennessee residency. All documents must be originals or certified, and no photocopies are accepted.
