Memphis Police Department officials reported that a 14-year-old boy was shot in North Memphis on Monday night.
The boy was dropped off at the LeBonheur Emergency Room on Poplar Avenue just before 11:30 p.m. He had sustained two gunshot wounds to his back.
He told authorities that he heard gunfire when he was taking out the trash on the curb of a house located in the 2200 block of Clarksdale Avenue.
The teenager reportedly went to his friend on North Hollywood Street as soon as he thought he had been shot, who took him to the hospital.
The incident is still under investigation.
