LOCAL | Two Judge Seats To Be Removed From Shelby County With The Passing Of SB2517

Two criminal court judge seats are on the way out after the Tennessee legislature passed a bill Wednesday.

The bill, SB2517, will remove the seats once held by former judge Melissa Boyd and Judge Mary Wagner.

Boyd recently resigned from her seat after pleading guilty to criminal charges in April, and Wagner will be moving up to the Supreme Court of Tennessee.

Not only will the seats be removed from Shelby County, it will be reinstated into Judicial Districts 4 and 19 which span counties in East, West, and Middle Tennessee.
