LOST CHANGE | Nebraska Alligator Undergoes Emergency Operation To Remove 70 Coins From Its Stomach

A Nebraska zoo had to save the life of one of its rarest alligators by pumping it’s stomach for eating 70 metal coins.

Thibodaux, the 36-year-old gator, is a rare leucistic gator that is notable for having white pale skin and blue eyes. Zoo officials believe it ate the coins as a result of tourists tossing them in the water.

The procedure was detailed as an operation with a camera and tools that went through its mouth and safely retrieving the change.

In a statement following the emergency operation, the zoo advised future guests that they should not throw coins into any bodies of water at the Omaha Zoo.
