LISTEN | Former Councilman Frank Colvett: “The Interim Tag On Chief Davis Is Not Going Anywhere”

Former Memphis City Councilman Frank Colvett joined the Nation of Jake on Wednesday to talk about the latest move from the city council tabling the vote for the future of police chief C.J. Davis.

What was supposed to be a final outcome on whether Memphis keeps or replaces Davis became further drawn out with no future vote date in sight. Mayor Young reappointed Davis as interim police chief until the vote can finally be held.

For Colvett, he’s certain it won’t be the last time it happens either.

“I have yet to see a city council not give any of the police chiefs grief in all my time,” he said. “This problem is not going away, this interim tag that Mayor Young has put on her is not going anywhere. It’s not going to improve unless the crime numbers overall improve.”
