CLERK WATCH | “I think we’re gonna have a new clerk in the new year” – Commissioner Wright

Memphis Morning News spoke with Shelby County Commissioner Mick Wright about his observations while visiting 201 Poplar and the latest issues related to the county clerks office. The courts at 201 were “an absolute ghost town”.  Yet the back log of trials, some for years, continues to grow.  The state will remove judges if there’s appears not be a need in the county and with as few trials as have been occurring, it appears that we don’t need as many judges because there’s so few trials. How easy is it to fix? Make the judges punch in and out of a clock so the public see how little or how long they spend in their court rooms / offices?
